Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

I stopped posting here and am now at medschneverends

Hi. Welcome to Epiblast! The name is partly inspired by PZ Myers famous blog, Pharyngula partly by the fact that the epiblast, a simple tissue in a developing embryo (labelled 5), gives rise, eventually, to virtually everything inside our body. It's a metaphor for how some of our simple, fundamental ideas vastly affect the other aspects of our life. This blog covers my interests; usually science, medicine, atheism, religion. I might sneak in a bit of philosophy or magic if I feel like it. I warn you, the discussion gets uncomfortable and I come to conclusions which are unconventional, maybe contradictory to yours. Don't go crying to someone if you are offended.

Hypocrisy?

Hmm. So a Singaporean girl got killed by Terrorists in the prime of her youth/career. And the country is enraged. Why? Because of terrorism? But I'm sure so many people have been killed before in a single attack. What about the riots which happen every once in a while. Why must it take foreigners for the world to wake up to the threat?

And most importantly. Isn't the value of her life the same whether she was shot or whether she died in an agonizing car accident? Then why is it treated differently? Doesn't it make the guy who killed her a martyr?

I invite my readers to discuss, whether on FB or on Blogger. Speak your minds folks.

To be brutally honest, I don't give a damn about her. She was neither my friend nor do I knew her.

So she's dead. People die everyday so what's the big deal? The local media reported it so that they can compare this country to other countries and show how well our regime is protecting us from terrorism. Just another PR exercise, a cheap shot and honestly, I can't see why anyone should be bothered.

I don't know. Someone told me that she 'felt' for the deceased's husband and family. And I was like, What? Did you lose an immediate family member cause he/she was shot in the head (to put it crudely) too?

Aww she died. You didn't know her. It's like crying over Princess Diana. IDK, I only ever saw her dead.
